Police are on the hunt for two suspects in connection with a Sunday morning stabbing of a taxi driver in downtown near the intersection of Harbor and Commonwealth, according to a statement by Fullerton Police Sgt. Andrew Goodrich.
The two suspects named in the statement are both male Hispanics in their mid-20s and the primary suspect is described by the police press release as 5'7", 180 pounds, short dark hair and possibly sporting a goatee. The second suspect is described as 5'6", between 150-160 pounds and wearing dark clothes.
Goodrich said in a statement that the stabbing happened as a result of a disputed fare.
"The taxi driver pulled over on Amerige, just east of Harbor and told the fares to get out," he said. "One of the suspects began punching the taxi driver victim while still in the front right passenger seat. The taxi driver realized he was being stabbed, and not punched, and began driving away."
The unidentified taxi driver who was stabbed in the chest and arm was taken to a local trauma center and he is currently in stable condition.
Anyone with information is expected to call Detective Matt Malone at (714) 738-6534 or the front desk at (714) 738-6716.
