Fullerton is a town with a history that is unique in Southern California, and perhaps the world. Maker of the first commercial electric guitar, Leo Fender, started his business here. Rumors have it that music greats used to play hippie shows at Hillcrest park after picking up there axes from Leo, dropping acid and having bacchanalian love fests under the parks many maple trees. But those are probably just rumors, right?

What is not in doubt is that downtown Fullerton is north Orange County's largest open live music destination every night of the week.

Steamers Cafe on Commonwealth is one of the main stops on the West Coast for touring jazz giants.

Slidebar, owned by famous musicians has become, in the few years it's been open, a gathering place for the type of rock that the OC is famous for (not the soundtrack to the stupid TV show).

But wherever you go in the downtown area you will likely find a fun, relaxed atmosphere where live original music takes center stage.
